Before his appointment by Congressman Weber, Meeks served in Washington, D.C. as a member of the Reagan/Bush transition team. During the 1980 presidential campaign, he was the Executive Director of the Minnesota Reagan for President Committee.
In 1992 Meeks was elected Republican National Committeeman from Minnesota and in January 1997 elected a vice-chairman of the Republican National Committee. He was re-elected as RNC vice-chairman in 1999, 2001, and again in 2003. During this time, he served on the RNC Executive Committee and Rules Committee before resigning in 2005.
Meeks currently provides strategic and political advice to various campaigns throughout Minnesota. In 2000 and 2004 he served as state volunteer co-chairman of the Minnesota Bush for President Committee. In 2008 and 2012 he was Minnesota Chairman of the Romney for President Committee.
Meeks is a graduate of Moorhead State University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
